At Gayton (St Matthews) we aspire to prepare every child for the challenge and changes of the future so they can achieve the highest standards in their personal development. We support them to build resilience and we encourage perseverance to achieve their goals. In order to do this, many steps are taken to support them through their learning journey. Quality first teaching is vital for all pupils. However, for some children there are occasions when further additional support may be needed to help them achieve their targets.
Niamh Allitt is the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Coordinator. As SENDCo, Mrs. Watts supports all staff to ensure that there is provision made for those pupils identified as having needs additional to or different from, other pupils. She works with children and parents, chairs annual reviews and liaises with external professionals in terms of planning.
